Hi, I’m Rachel, Nutrition Therapist, mama of two and creatress behind Mama Thyme. My journey into motherhood, like many, was not simple. 

For over a decade, I lived with a disease called Ulcerative Colitis that greatly affected my quality of life. I experienced two miscarriages and years of infertility after that. One day I just knew. In order to get pregnant, I had to have my colon removed. It was something that my doctors had mentioned that I’d always been resistant too. I spent years studying to become a Nutrition Therapist to heal myself and help others using food as medicine. But all of a sudden, it just felt right. I was in an “ok” place with my health, I physically felt strong and felt I could recover well. So, in May of 2021 I had my entire colon removed. And less than 6 months after that, I was pregnant with my rainbow baby. 

Being a new mom was…shocking. AMAZING. But shocking! I had no idea breastfeeding would be so hard. That I would bleed for so long after birth. That I could love a tiny human so much it hurt. And that I would require an endless amount of food and drinks to keep me going. I realized very quickly that my energy, mood and emotional sturdiness as a parent was directly correlated to how well I was keeping myself nourished throughout the day.  

The early years demand so much from us, physically and emotionally. Building in ways to take care of myself while I was mothering, in the form of nourishing drinks, food and herbal allies, became a vital ritual. These essentials made hard moments a little easier and brought me glimmers of solace even on the toughest of days. It became a way to celebrate and honor myself for transforming into the mother I was meant to be. 

I wanted other mothers to feel loved and nourished in this way too. This was how the Mother Love Gift Box and ultimately, Mama Thyme Market was born. Out of a desire for mothers to receive nourishment, feel loved, celebrated and seen for all they do, no matter what season of motherhood they're in. My offerings to you are chosen to nourish on a deeper level, using organic ingredients and healing herbs to support sleep, soothe stress, replenish minerals, optimize hydration, support digestion, tend to achy muscles and of course, be delicious.
